Tantrix Wish List

Proposals can be anything you would like to see changed, added, removed or done at Tantrix.com. If you have played at least 100 games (your name is no longer pink in the lobby), you can create as many proposals as you like. However, you can only support one proposal at a time, so choose wisely. You should think of your support as the answer to the question "if you could have just one wish..."

The table below can be sorted in different ways by clicking on any of the column headers. To read a more detailed description of a proposal, click the "Proposal Description" headline of whichever proposal you are interested in.

47 mikem 0 A better robot that could be used to replay and analyse moves  2003-04-05   2004-12-29

If we had program capable of playing Tantrix perfectly then of course we could
use it to analyse interesting situations and tell us the best move. But Tantrix
is a game with lots of luck, and its unlikely even Dave can program the perfect
robot.

So, the best we can hope for is a fairly clever robot (say as good as a top
Master player). Then it should be easy to feed in set positions and then
instantly have them replayed out hundreds if not thousands of times.

The program would then out put the results- ie if you were comparing two
possible moves in the middle of a game, then program would "roll" both
positions out and report back- eg "red wins 74% of the games with average
margin of 4 tiles, blue wins 20% of the time etc etc etc....

It would be so neat to be able to get a second opinion on what the really best
moves in Tantrix are, and how often even the top players missing out on finding
them.

Of course writing a brilliant robot program is no mean feat, but Dave did say
to assume we had a wish!
